Never use XmText again. With XRT/field 2.0 you can build data-entry forms much more quickly and easily than with the standard Motif text widget XmText. XRT/field provides an integrated and comprehensive collection of widgets that supports:

Or, you can take complete control by setting resources to specify every aspect of the data entry process, from error messages to colors to choosing how negative currency values should be displayed. XRT/field provides over 60 resources that let you customize virtually every aspect of how users enter data.

XRT/field also includes XrtSpinBox and XrtComboBox widgets so you can start using these user-interface components now, rather than waiting for Motif 2.0 or CDE. The new calendar widget included in XRT/field can be used as a standalone multipurpose calendar or as a popup date editor for XrtDateField widget.

Object-Oriented Extension to Motif

XRT/field widgets are subclassed from XmText, so you still have access to all the standard XmText resources. And, because XRT/field is designed to be primarily programmed through the standard Xt resource mechanism, it integrates cleanly into all GUI builder tools.

Your users can modify the look and behavior of individual fields using their .Xdefaults file (to the extent you let them). You may never need to use XmText as a data-entry field again.
