Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 and Quest Recovery Manager

This document describes the differences between streaming backup/restore solutions and online recovery solutions for Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory™ (AD). It explains the importance and role of solutions that provide continuous data protection (CDP), and specifically introduces Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2007 and the capabilities this solution provides for Windows environments. 

While CDP solutions provide ongoing protection of critical data, there remains a need for restoring data in a timely manner. Online recovery solutions can complement CDP solutions by speeding recovery of deleted or overwritten data, and simplifying the complexity of restoring AD and Exchange objects.
